Visit of Ms. Mani, the principal of Deenabandhu Home for Girls

Ms. Mani came to Germany in July 2014 to attend a seminar in Giessen. After the seminar ended, she was able to visit us in Munich for a few days only because of Visa limitations.

Ms. Mani brought beautiful drawings the girls had done for us, thanking us for the night dresses and the bicycles.  We also called the girls in India and heard their excited voices and their happiness.

It was great to have Mani visiting here in Munich and to have the opportunity to show her a little bit of southern Germany and Munich – the time was much too short. She was also able to see where and how Evelin had lived here and to see at least a few photos, including where Evelin’s ashes were scattered in the Northsee – her soul is always with us.  Because Mani wanted to see the Alps, we drove to Garmisch-Partenkirchen where the Zugspitze is located, the highest mountain in the German Alps.

On Sunday we attended Church Services with beautiful organ music and we each lit a candle in memory of Evelin. Then we took an informative Munich sight-seeing tour, passing by historical, cultural and beautiful areas of Munich.  Dinner we had again in an Indian restaurant. The weather was truly Indian weather, ideal for our guest.

Monday was our “shopping day”, but of course we had to stop in a café to enjoy some ice cream.

Late Monday night, the flight back to India departed with our best wishes for Mani, her family, the staff and all the girls at the Deenabandhu Home.
